About Me

I have coached over 9,000 classes and trained clients for over 12,000 hours.  The most important thing I have learned is that how you move matters.  My training style focuses on proper body mechanics, balancing mobility and stability, and strengthening intrinsic and extrinsic muscles.  

I work with clients ages 14 and up, from all backgrounds, and with a multitude of goals.  Specialties include:

  • General physical preparedness

  • Olympic-style weightlifting

  • Sports-specific training

  • Speed and agility training

  • Teens training (age 14 and up)

  • Injury rehab/prevention 

My background includes the following:

  • Professional in the fitness industry for 15 years

  • Owner of SCFit LLC 2020 (Sara Carr Fitness)

  • Assistant head coach at CrossFit NYC, employed from 2009-2020

  • Founder of CFNYC mentor program, training new coaches and teaching functional anatomy 2014-2020

  • CrossFit Level 3 Trainer

  • Completed 2 year Pilates Graduate School Apprenticeship with Karen Carlson in 2019

  • Mentored by movement specialist Deb Parsons and Alec Helner since 2015

  • Competed at USA Weightlifting Nationals in 2014

  • Fought in the New York Golden Gloves in 2012 and 2013

  • Competed at CrossFit Regionals as an individual in 2010 and on an affiliate team in 2011

  • Competed at the CrossFit Games on an affiliate team in 2009

  • An avid snowboarder and tennis player
